FAQs
Whether you’re brand new to working with a recruiting firm or just curious about how we do things at BCL Search, here’s a quick guide to what you can expect. We believe the recruitment process should feel transparent, supportive, and empowering — not overwhelming or mysterious. These FAQs expand on the questions we hear most from candidates across all stages of their careers.
We specialize in administrative and support roles — Executive Assistants, Administrative Assistants, Chiefs of Staff, Office Managers, Receptionists, and more — across industries like finance, real estate, VC, law, and creative. We place both permanent and temporary roles.
In addition to core administrative placements, we also support roles tied to operations, investor relations, client experience, family office support, HR coordination, and department-specific assistant positions. Many of our clients are dynamic, fast-growing organizations where admin talent plays a critical strategic role, so the opportunities we recruit for often involve meaningful exposure to leadership, project work, and business operations. If you excel in roles that require organization, communication, discretion, and polished client service, there’s a strong chance we work with companies looking for someone just like you. Many of our clients are renowned, established firms that need someone who knows the landscape and pedigree of the executives and their clients and immediately be a resource.
Not at all. Most of our placements happen through direct outreach — so if you’re a great fit for one of our clients, we’ll proactively connect you, even if you haven’t applied for a specific role.
We treat your search as a long-term partnership, not a transaction. Once we meet with you, we will keep you in mind for current and any new openings that come across our desks. Many candidates are placed in roles they never formally applied for simply because we understood their strengths and matched them to a client who valued those qualities. If you’d rather cast a wide net, you’re welcome to explore the openings posted on our site, but you don’t need to wait for the right job description to pop up in order for us to advocate for you.
That’s totally fine. Many of our best placements come from long-term relationships. If the timing’s not right now, we’re happy to stay in touch until it is.
We understand that careers evolve, priorities shift, and sometimes the best opportunities arise when you’re not actively looking. Keeping us updated on your goals, interests, and career trajectory helps us reach out when something genuinely aligned comes up. Whether you’re passively curious, preparing for a change six months from now, or simply exploring what’s possible, we’re here when you’re ready — pressure-free and on your timeline.
After an initial interview you’ll have the opportunity to apply to any of the roles posted on our website. When you apply online, the recruiter working on that position is notified of your application and will review your candidacy for the position. If they believe it would be a good fit, they’ll be in touch to discuss the role further. From there, they’ll submit your resume and a bio to our client. If our client is interested in scheduling an initial interview, we’ll coordinate and prep you for it, we’ll debrief with you and the client after and we’ll continue to help manage the process through offer stage. We’re here to help at every step.
Behind the scenes, we’re doing far more than forwarding your résumé. We advocate for you, contextualize your experience, highlight the strengths that matter most to our clients, and position you in a way that reflects your value. Throughout the process, we aim to provide clear communication, real-time updates, honest feedback, and strategic preparation, so you never feel like you’re navigating the search alone.
Our goal is to support you from first conversation to final offer, whether that means helping you articulate your story, talking through career transitions, reviewing your résumé, or preparing you for the nuances of a specific interview style or company culture. You can think of us as both a guide and a partner.
Nope — never. Our services are completely free for candidates. We’re paid by the companies who hire us to find top talent.
We also believe in transparency: we do not take a percentage of your salary, we do charge candidates fees at any point, and we do not charge for résumé reviews or interview prep. Our work is centered on creating strong, long-term matches, not on candidate fees or hidden costs.
Yes! We’ll talk through your experience, interests, and long-term goals to help guide your search. Our job is to help you find a role that aligns — not just something that fills a seat.
Many candidates come to us with multiple potential paths. Maybe you’ve been in a hybrid role, or you’re trying to decide whether a traditional administrative track, a Chief of Staff role, or a more operations-focused position is the right next step. We help you sort through those options and evaluate what truly aligns with your strengths and aspirations.
We take time to understand what motivates you:
- Do you thrive in fast-paced environments or prefer steady, predictable workflows?
- Do you want client interaction or a more behind-the-scenes role?
- Are you seeking growth, stability, exposure to leadership, or a reset?
- Are you open to new industries, or do you prefer to stay within familiar territory?
Our goal is not simply to place you in the next job — it’s to help you build a sustainable and meaningful career path.
While not a standard FAQ, this is something candidates tell us they wish they’d understood earlier. BCL Search is intentionally small, relationship-driven, and highly specialized. You’re not just a résumé in a database — you’re someone we get to know personally. We build genuine partnerships with candidates and clients alike, allowing us to make better, more human placements.
We listen, we advise, and we stay in your corner long after you start your new role. Whether you’re navigating your first admin job or stepping into senior-level support, we’re here to help you grow now and throughout your career.
